Late night Musings.
Hello, Hello, Hello.
Life have been kinda on the track! Apart from the unplanned emotional roller coasters, I guess this period is kind of good to me.
I started watching Rupaul's Drag race and I guess I really learnt alot from their stories. I caught myself thinking a lot about my self doubt and slaying them with lessons I learn from the show. #temporarybeyonce!
Being Someone else never really works, so be yourself.
If there's one thing I learnt from watching the episodes is that these Queens is to always be yourself. Even if you are a Sarcastic Beyonce beneath all the mustache and muscles. I guess watching people do drag kind of inspire me to be myself as I am really impressed seeing them expressing their inner thoughts through a character.
At the same time, seeing examples of the Queens not able to know themselves and not showing their true colors was a pain. It's like sometimes in life, we all have social circles that we don't really express ourselves, I say stop. Be yourself, Be nice in your own way. What I've learnt from Bianca Del Rio was that even if you are a Shady Bitch, it doesn't mean you have to be mean to others. Unless well if they're overstepping you . Which brings me to my next point.
Reading is Fundamental
I really like how these queens read one another. I admit sometimes when a queen gets really Shady, it can turn really ugly. But what I learnt from this is how to be objective. Let's be honest, everyone get criticized and we criticize others as well (intentional or not!). I know it hurts sometimes, especially when the criticism gets really thorn into your heart. But I guess from a recent example I learnt from a friend of mine is : " Feedbacks positive or not, they're meant to be constructive." I like how some of the queen showed great examples of being objective and how these shady readings are actually of a help to some of them. But the most important lesson in this is to not take things so seriously... Like seriously.
Sissy that walk
I especially love how the Queens embrace the high heels fashion side with confidence. It's not easy being a lady. With Heels, make up, which arguably can be done without. The most important factor that makes a lady her is the confidence and grace she holds within herself. I admit to being that little girl who never walks with her shoulders up and exchange awkward little smiles to people around me. I really learnt a lot to embrace confidence by showing our best selves. I learnt through their experience that confidence isn't about walking into a room all heads high and thinking that she's the best. Confidence is walking into a room and knowing your self-worth without comparing to the other people or being arrogant in the room.
Always believe in yourself and be grateful.
I like how the show isn't about just being pretty, charming and walking on runways... It's about believing in yourself, exploring yourself and being grateful enough to listen to feedback. The queen's reaction towards criticism and how they react toward it often remind me of the challenges we face in an ever changing world in trying to being ourselves. in simple, you need to believe in yourself, pamper yourself and talk yourself down from the ledge of self doubt to shine. The world will never benefit from your talent, if you don't give it!
Love is Simple. It's Acceptance
The love among the Queens and their family shows alot about acceptance and how simple love is. LGBTQ or other 50+ options from facebook, Love is Love.
Last but the most important lesson: If you don't love yourself, how the hell are you going to love somebody else?
Can I get an amen in here?
